Weekend Intensives 1

All weekend intensives set within a two to three hour radius of Budapest will take on this format.

Friday: Arrival and orientation. Students will be introduced to each other and a general outline of the weekend’s program will be reviewed. At this point students may make suggestions as to what they would like to do on the Saturday evening.*

Saturday:

Classes start at 9am sharp. This schedule is to be maintained so as to maximise benefit for any later programs. The allotted time is four hours with a fifteen minute break at 10:45 for coffee, or whatever.

Lunch will be taken together from 1pm to 2pm. Students may decide to cook for each other or sandwiches, soup will be provided. Again the afternoon schedule is strict so students must be ready by 2:15 at the latest.

An afternoon activity will be planned around the city/town of interest, weather pending. This could include a treasure hunt, or such, and will involve students working together to complete a task sheet. Arrival back at the base should be no later than 4:30 pm/5pm. Another hour of informal discussion regarding the task sheets will then take place from 5-6pm. If the weather does not allow for outdoor activity a two hour afternoon activity session will replace it. This will include communication games and debates, etc.

Dinner will be cooked together with all students pitching in. People with specific dietary requirements should let us know in advance so as to avoid any complications.

*The evening time will be purely a student driven thing. If students wish to go off on their own they may do so. If the majority of students would like a light social evening in the city/town that can be arranged, while the option to have a film night, chat, boardgames, etc. will also be on offer. As mentioned this will be discussed fully on Friday night but included in the application form will be an option to make some suggestions prior to arrival. This will in fact help us greatly as in some cases an activity, eg film, may need to be brought with us from Budapest.

Sunday:

Like Saturday, Sunday will begin with a four hour intensive running from nine until one. Again this will be strictly adhered to.

Lunch will be had together as per Saturday but depending on the students wishes, and transport availability back to Budapest the afternoon program may vary.

An activity period indoors or outdoors will be on offer with a finishing time of 4pm. This will allow students the time to pack for the return home. Later departures will be catered for with a dinner at base, or a packed snack for the road.

Basic time schedule:

Friday: 7-9pm arrival followed by 9-10 orientation
